1. Introduction

Welcome to UnixGo ("we", "us", "our"). We are dedicated to providing technology solutions that connect customers, campus drivers, delivery riders, and restaurant partners within Malaysia.

We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy details how we collect, use, process, and disclose your personal data when using our mobile applications, services, and websites. By using our applications, you acknowledge the terms of this Privacy Policy and agree to our processing of data as described herein.

2. Personal Information We Collect

Depending on your role and how you interact with UnixGo, we collect different types of personal information to provide a secure and reliable experience.

Customers (UnixGo Food & Delivery Orders)

We collect your full name, email address, phone number, delivery addresses, order history, payment transaction information (excluding full credit card numbers), profile images, and precise location details when placing orders.

Delivery Partners (Riders & Campus Drivers)

We collect your registration details: full name, personal email, student email, matriculation (Student ID) card or number, phone number, vehicle type, vehicle plate number, profile photo, bank account details (for earnings payout), and precise background location data.

Restaurant Partners (Vendors)

We collect business details including shop name, owner/contact person name, business registration number, physical restaurant/shop address, bank account details for payout processing, and photos of your food menu items.

3. Prominent Disclosure: Background Location Access

CRITICAL DISCLOSURE FOR DELIVERY PARTNERS (RIDERS & DRIVERS)

UnixGo collects precise location data, including background location coordinates, for Delivery Partners (Riders and Campus Drivers). This data is collected in the background even when the app is closed, minimized, or not in use, to facilitate order dispatching, real-time routing, and customer tracking of deliveries. This tracking is only active when the Delivery Partner has set their status to "Online" or is carrying out an assigned active delivery task.

We collect location data for the following essential purposes:

  • Order Matching: To determine your proximity to restaurants or pickup locations and distribute new order offers fairly.
  • Live Tracking for Customers: To display the rider's live progress on a map to customers waiting for their food, package, or ride, providing them with an accurate estimated time of arrival (ETA).
  • Safety and Dispatch Integrity: To verify that orders are picked up and delivered correctly and to resolve disputes regarding order completion.

Note for Customers: Customers' location is collected only in the foreground when using the app to select a delivery address or search for nearby restaurants. We do not track customer locations in the background.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to operate, maintain, and improve our services, including:

  • Service Operations: Processing restaurant orders, matching deliveries with riders, routing campus drivers, and facilitating user-to-user chat in the app.
  • Payouts and Payments: Verifying account identities and executing payouts to riders, campus drivers, and restaurant vendors using their registered bank details.
  • Notifications: Sending real-time push alerts about order status updates, dispatch offers, and messages via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
  • Device Integration: Connecting restaurant vendor applications to Bluetooth thermal printers to print physical receipt invoices.
  • Customer Support: Responding to user enquiries and resolving complaints submitted to our support team.

5. Sharing of Personal Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We only share data to facilitate app transactions or with trusted third-party service providers. Examples include:

  • Between Platform Users: We share delivery partner details (name, vehicle plate number, real-time location) with the customer and restaurant partner to facilitate active delivery monitoring.
  • Firebase Core & Database: For hosting database entities, authenticating credentials, and managing push notifications.
  • Ably Real-time Service: To synchronize real-time updates and active rider location streams securely across device screens.
  • Google Maps API: To calculate driving distance, route riders to delivery targets, and display geographical maps.
  • Legal Requirements: When compelled by Malaysian authorities, universities, or court orders to comply with legal processes or protect users' physical safety.

  • External Storage: Read/write storage access is needed to select and upload document photos or images cached on the device.
